ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Carien and I am a family photographer.
As a family photographer, I am a creative professional who loves to capture authentic moments in people's lives. Besides the usual posed photographs I am also passionate about shooting lifestyle during a session. These are the more spontaneous, real-life situations and emotions rather than posed or staged shots. I work in various settings, including outdoor locations, homes, events, and public spaces, to capture the everyday moments, events, and experiences of my subjects.
I'm a mom of three and are well aware of the fact that all children are different and need different approaches. I try to keep children engaged during a photo session and if needed we take some short breaks. At my house things can change quickly and I've learned to be flexible and go with the flow.
We are all animal lovers in my household. I grew up on the countryside in the northern part of the Netherlands surrounded by dogs, cats, goats, Guinea Pigs and horses. Now, living in Acton I take our dog out into the woods every morning for a long walk. The forest is truly my happy place. Needless to say I love dogs and always welcome these loyal K9s to a family session. Or, give them my full attention during their own photo session!
Locations for Photo Sessions
Most mornings I'm out in the woods for a walk with my dog Graycie. I've explored many areas in Acton, Boxborough, Littleton, Westford, Concord, Lincoln, Chelmsford and Stow. There are so many beautiful trails around here and therefore plenty places to choose from. Some wooded areas even have open spaces like a field or meadow-looking area nearby. Those are great for cloudy days. No matter where you go, there will always be a fence, a boulder, the perfect climbing tree or a stream to make for a great set-up for a shoot. I have also noticed that a lot of trails have the typical New England rock walls winding through them as well. Those are awesome for photos too!
